Babies' skin

<How do you prevent redness appearing on the baby’s bottom?>

Most redness on the bottom is irritative dermatitis triggered by the blocking effect of the nappies, aggravated by contact with the stools and urine and sometimes with a secondary infection caused by germs.

To prevent this redness, there are a certain number of precautions to be taken. You should ...

change the baby’s nappies frequently,

clean the baby with a mild cleanser (harsh products damage the cutaneous barrier) and make sure you rinse it well,

dry the baby’s skin very gently,

at each nappy change, apply a protective insulating cream on the clean skin.
