Babies' skin

Is the skin of a newborn baby or a child the same as an adult’s skin?>

At birth, a baby’s skin is already completely formed (except in premature babies), but the surface area / weight ratio, unfavourable to the newborn baby, renders its skin more permeable. Being very thin, it does not perform its barrier function as effectively as an adult’s skin. The slightest breach can damage its functions; on the one hand by facilitating water loss, which leads to local dryness that can cause irritation, and on the other hand by allowing infectious or allergic agents to penetrate and aggravate this irritation.

It is therefore essential to use very high tolerance, alcohol-free hygiene and skin care products.
