Hair and scalp

<What is the reason for a severe scaly condition accompanied by intense itching and sometimes red patches on the edge of your scalp?>

Dandruff is due to the abnormal proliferation, on the scalp, of a micro-organism from the Malassezia family. This phenomenon leads to the excessively quick renewal of the epidermal cells that appear on the scalp in clumps, where they form large flakes of dandruff or sticky patches, greyish-yellow and oily in appearance. They are generally accompanied by severe irritation of the scalp and intense itching. Fatigue, stress, pollution or the season (winter) are all factors that can contribute to or increase the proliferation of Malassezia furfur and the subsequent appearance of dandruff.
